Context
The Fluxys gas network consists of 4000 kilometers of pipelines and maintenance-intensive passages. It is therefore not surprising that hops has been involved in maintenance projects on Fluxys infrastructure more than once in recent years!
Challenges
In the new 3-year framework contract, for which hops is responsible for coordination, we are allowed to organize the maintenance of above-ground pipelines in places that are difficult to reach; along and under bridges, over waterways or crossing level differences. In doing so, we relieve Fluxys of all maintenance work.
The role of hop
Before we start work, the pipelines are first audited, after which a proposal is presented to Fluxys. Then the coordination of maintenance is also done by hops. For the maintenance of the pipelines, small yards are started up at which the pipelines are cleaned, de-rusted and, when necessary, pieces are replaced and painted.
In January we started two periodic inspections of hard-to-reach pipelines and in the coming period we will start up yards of different sizes throughout Belgium.
